1999 E BLOCK SINGLE VINEYARD PINOT NOIR
Tasting Notes: The 1999 E Block Pinot Noir from the Buena Tierra Vineyard is deep blood red/blue in color. Aromas are of mixed berry jam and sweet Santa Rosa plum, with cinnamon and cardamom spices. Flavors are an echo of the aromas with the addition of blackberry, mixed berry crisp, toasted nuts and a deep core of jammy, sappy, syrupy, fruit. The oak (70% new from François Freres, Louis Latour, Damy, and Seguin Moreau) is of understated vanilla bean.
Aging Notes: My suspicion is that this wine will be one for the ages. The alcohol and the acid should sustain the wine in the cellar for 8-10 years from vintage. Wine flavors were extremely youthful and full of baby fat at first release and only now are some flavors and aromas of age beginning to hint at the future of this bottling. Stayed tuned.
