Tasting Notes: I have pulled the cork on a bottle of this from my cellar to write these notes (8/14/02). I have had some spottiness with this wine. On occasion this wine has ‘soured’. I am not at all certain what that is about and have had the experience once at a friend’s house (who pulled it out of their cellar) and once at a winemaker dinner where we opened several bottles and one was weird. This bottle was just fine. Clarity was good, with a very pretty garnet/ruby color and almost no orange peel on the edges. As expected from a cool, late vintage the fruit character is bright, high tone, and very much cranberry/red currant. Aromatics are a bit of sassafras and licorice. This bottle is a delight, but expect some variation.

  Alcohol:   13.6% by volume
  TA:   0.49 g/100mL
  pH:   3.80
  Production:   640 cases of 12

Aging Notes: If you have a bottle like the one I just opened (and indeed I have had some great emails extolling this wine) then the wine is lovely. However, I do not think that more cellar time will improve this wine, so drink up!
