Tasting Notes: The first vintage of E Block certainly set the tone for this vineyard. Each clone brings a slightly different nuance to the wine with black fruits being dominant. Blackberry, Boysenberry, dark bing cherry, a coffee shop after hours, baked apple brown betty…….loads of depth and body.

Aging Notes: Wow! Was I ever delighted when I recently tasted this wine. I participated in a Russian River Winegrowers weekend seminar on August 17^th & 18^th of 2002. The topic was the E Block vineyard at the Buena Tierra Ranch. I showed 4 vintages of the E Block Pinot Noir, 1998, 1999, 2000, & 2001. On day one the 1999 was the hit and on day two the 1998. Different crowd, different day. The wine still had lovely youthful fruit but very rich in ripe Santa Rosa plum and a layer of cassis. The balance was charming with just a touch of oak lingering in the still tight finish. Hang on to this for a couple more years.
