Tasting Notes: I tasted this wine in Charleston, South Carolina in March 2002. I was somewhat disappointed in the wine at that time. It seemed a bit thin with very light red fruit characteristics. The retailer who had 4 bottles left was actually thrilled remarking about how much this reminded him of some of the lighter years in Burgundy and how easy it would be to sell. Hmmmmmm…..about a week after I returned home I opened a bottle from the warehouse. Quite a difference. The wine indeed has the bouquet and flavors of the lighter red fruits, cranberry/red currant/red raspberry, but rather than tired out this wine was still vibrant. I have changed distributors in SC since this vintage and sadly must admit that the warehouse conditions of my first and rather large distributor are just short of a crime, not air conditioned, just night fans!

  Alcohol:   13.8% by volume
  TA:   0.52 g/100mL
  pH:   3.68
  Production:   540 cases of 12

Aging Notes: See above tasting notes. I think this wine will age like a Burgundy in a light year with early onion peel around the edges, loads of cherries and a hint of dried fruit. The wine is structurally sound and can stand that test of time but I do not see any real improvement with more time.
