1997 KNIGHT’S VALLEY CHARDONNAY
1997 Knights Valley Chardonnay Label

  Harvest Date:   9/23/97
  Brix:   23.8 degrees
  pH:   3.46
  TA:   0.61 g/100mL

Tasting Notes: The unusual location of this vineyard (a northeast facing slope) in the cool Knight’s Valley forces these grapes to hang on until the bitter end. The result is a finished wine with lots of structure and backbone (cool climate) and the full ripeness from the long hang time. The aromas and flavors are more stone fruit (think apricot!) rather than tropical or citrus. Middles are lush with the lovely acidity bringing the wine to an elegant conclusion.

  Alcohol:   14.3% by volume
  TA:   0.51 g/100mL
  pH:   3.54
  Production:   134 cases of 12

Aging Notes: Last word from the field was that the wine was holding up rather well. Again, the cool climate of Knight’s Valley (think Peter Michael) allows for the structure of ageability. The color is golden and the freshness of youth is being replaced with a subtle nutty maturity.
