Tasting Notes: Spice, raspberry, baked brown betty…..if it smelled and tasted good it was in this wine. A real gem of a wine to start KEEGAN CELLARS. Of course there is a catch 22. I thought it seemed sort of easy making wine……it just tasted SO good and was made with a kind of benign neglect and naïveté. Some years later I realized that it was all about the vineyards and the growing season and THAT is why this wine is so lovely, not the winemaking!

  Alcohol:   13.7% by volume
  TA:   0.55 g/100mL
  pH:   3.82
  Production:   240 cases of 12

Aging Notes: Well, the aging notes are just as much fun to write as the tasting notes! I last tasted this wine in May of 2002, again from magnum, at a dinner in NJ. The wine had been shipped from my warehouse and therefore proper cellaring was insured. The wine was just a plain delight. I like young fresh fruit so I would be inclined to drink this up. But if you enjoy the aged flavors of pinot noir, cigar box, leather, match stick, a bowl of ripe raspberries with a hint of chocolate then by all means wait. This is a special bottling. Thank you Mother Nature!
